See Before You Switch

Live window thumbnails as you cycle

Window titles don’t always tell the full story. The Preview Deck shows you live snapshots of each window as you cycle through the switcher, so you can see exactly what you’re switching to.

How it works

1

Enable in Settings

Open Settings → General and toggle “Show preview window.” This requires Screen Recording permission so Scopo can capture window thumbnails.

2

Open the switcher and cycle

Press Cmd+Tab and start cycling. A card stack appears next to the window list showing live thumbnails of your windows.

3

See previous, current, and next

The deck shows three overlapping cards: the previous window behind, the current window in focus, and the next window peeking below. As you cycle, the cards shift smoothly.

4

Switch with confidence

No more guessing which “Chrome” window is the right one. See the content before you commit.

Tips & tricks

Screen Recording

Preview Deck requires the Screen Recording permission. Without it, Scopo can’t capture window thumbnails. You can grant it in System Settings → Privacy & Security.

Performance

Thumbnails are captured using a high-performance private API that works even with Stage Manager. There’s no noticeable performance impact.

Privacy

Thumbnails are held in memory only and never saved to disk. When you close the switcher, they’re gone.
