Privacy Policy

1. The Short Version

Scopo is built to respect your privacy. The app collects no analytics and sends no telemetry. It never records, stores, or transmits the contents of your screen. We collect the minimum information needed to run your account and license, and we use your email address only for functional messages about your purchase and account. We never send marketing or promotional spam, and we never sell your data.

2. Who We Are

Scopo is an independently developed macOS application. For any privacy question, you can reach us at help@scopo.app.

3. What We Collect

We keep data collection to the minimum required to sell and run the software:

  • Email address. Used to deliver your license, send purchase receipts and account notices, and respond to support requests.
  • License and device information. When the app checks your license, it sends your license key and a device identifier to our licensing service so we can confirm an active subscription and enforce the device limit described in our Terms. This is the only routine network call the app makes on its own.
  • Payment information. Payments are handled by Paddle, our merchant of record (see section 6). We receive confirmation of a purchase and limited billing details, but we never receive or store your full card number.
  • Support correspondence. If you email us, we keep that message so we can help and follow up.

4. What We Never Collect

Scopo manages windows, which means it can see them, but it does not keep or share what it sees. Window thumbnails, screenshots, and window titles are held in memory only and are discarded the moment the app quits. They are never written to disk, never uploaded, and never sent to us or anyone else. We do not run analytics, telemetry, advertising, fingerprinting, cross-site tracking, or behavioral profiling of any kind.

5. How We Use Your Email (No Marketing)

We use your email address for functional, transactional messages only: delivering your license, sending receipts, confirming account or subscription changes, replying to support, and notifying you about important service or security matters. We do not send marketing newsletters, promotional campaigns, or spam, and we do not add you to any marketing list. We do not sell, rent, or share your email address with third parties for their own marketing.

6. Payment Processing

Payments are processed by Paddle, which acts as the merchant of record and handles billing, subscription management, and the storage of payment details under its own privacy policy. We encourage you to review Paddle's privacy policy for how it processes your payment data.

7. Updates

Scopo checks for new versions using Sparkle, a standard macOS update framework. An update check contacts our update server to see whether a newer build is available. These checks are used only to deliver app updates and can be disabled in settings.

8. macOS Permissions

Scopo requests the Accessibility permission to manage and switch windows. The Screen Recording permission is optional and is used only to show live window thumbnail previews. These permissions are used solely for the app's window-management features and for nothing else. The data they expose stays on your Mac.

9. Service Providers

We rely on a small number of providers to operate: Paddle for payments, an email provider to deliver the functional messages described above, and standard web and backend hosting for the website and licensing service. These providers process data only to provide their service to us and are not permitted to use it for their own marketing.

10. Data Retention

We keep account and license information for as long as your account or subscription is active, and afterward only as long as needed for legitimate business purposes such as tax and accounting records. You can ask us to delete your data at any time, subject to any records we are legally required to retain.

11. Your Rights

You can request access to the personal data we hold about you, ask us to correct it, or ask us to delete it. To make a request, email help@scopo.app and we will respond within a reasonable time.

12. Changes to This Policy

We may update this policy from time to time. Material changes will be posted on this page with an updated effective date. Continued use of Scopo after changes are posted constitutes acceptance of the revised policy.
